OK, so last Saturday, December 6th, Byron Jeffery Jensen was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and received the gift of the Holy Ghost!! We are such a proud parent, and so happy that Byron made this decision on his own to be baptized. It was an awesome day, and what a humbling experience it is to see your own child make good choices, and important choices.
Neither Steve nor I could sleep the night before, and ended up getting up at 6:30 to start our day. I went and finished getting stuff done for the luncheon, and cooking breakfast, and then helping all the kids to get ready. Steve and Byron sat down for another father/son talk and to work on his Baptism folder/journal.
Then they left at 8:00 to go to the church to get dressed in the white clothing.
We got there miraculously at 8:30 with the rest of the kids and my parents. We took a few pictures and then went into the chapel to wait.
Now not to make light of the clothing, but Byron sure looked pretty funny in his tight 70's style clothing, it made me laugh, but he loved it...so that is fine with me if it made him happy! We went into to chapel for the Stake to do their part of the program. President Petterson conducted the meeting and there were 5 total baptisms that day. As a side note, a friend of ours joined the church in October, and was baptizing his daughter that same day, so that was cool to see him doing that (His wife was a member, and his kids went to church...so we were happy to hear that he had joined also!!). Then our ward was last. Byron and Shania Crank were the two from our ward. The primary room was packed with the 2 large family and friends. Shania was first, and then Byron entered the water. He stepped in and said "Whoa" and when I asked him later why he said it, he said it was because his pants filled with air, and it felt funny. Steve made sure that Byron was completely immersed, even if a toe or hand would have tried to float up, it would have never made it, he was way down in the water.
The program consisted of Sharon giving the talk on Baptism,
Will giving the talk on the Holy Ghost, watching the Testaments while everyone got ready, Bishop Kelly talking, and the 2 kids getting confirmed and receiving the Holy Ghost. It was an awesome experience and lots of people came..the Primary room was completely filled to the max. We had a luncheon at our house afterwards, and it was a beautiful day in the 50's, so we were able to eat outside in the sun.
This was one of the greatest days of my life. I am so grateful to have a knowledge of the importance of Baptism. I am grateful for family and friends who love and support us. I am grateful to a wonderful husband who is a great example to me and my children, and to all those around him. I love him with all my heart. I am grateful to my children for their testimonies, their faith, their love, and their example to me of Christlike behavior. I am grateful to my Savior Jesus Christ who set the perfect example for all of us to follow. And I am so grateful for the covenant of Baptism and for Byron making this wonderful decision to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He's eight????? Oh my...how time flies. Congratulations!
Congratulations Byron! What an exciting day for him and for y'all. Sorry your parents can never leave Texas! They'd be too greatly missed in the G-ville branch. (= I love seeing them when I go visit.
Congratulations Byron. We are so proud of you. You are a great example to your friends, family and ward members. We wish we could have been there.
Congrats to Byron, that is so awesome. Max's cousin was baptised Sat also and Max kept reminding everyone that he will be baptized in 2 1/2 years :) Carson King emailed us about your ward Christmas party. If we can we are going to come so that we can finally see everyone again.
Yeah, what an awesome step for your family! You are wonderful parents and we're very happy for Byron making such a momentous and great decision!
Congratulations! What a wonderful experience.
Mindi :)
Hey Adrienne,
We are getting rid of our last name from our blog so will you change your link to say Bret & Laura Family or something that doesn't use our last name.
Thanks
:)
