Insanity Day 3

OK so I decided to get up before the girls were up and going and workout for day 3 on Insanity...well I made it halfway into the warm up when my calves cramped up so bad I couldn't move so I paused the workout...then I stretched to have the girls wake up...so then I made breakfast for them and continued my workout, and amazingly once the stretching and warm up were done I was better, and could do most of the workout...

The best part of this lifestyle change is to hear my husband say how proud of me he is because he hasn't seen me stick to an exercise plan this intense in our whole marriage...it gives me motivation to keep going because as you all may know Stevie is  my hero and I hope one day to be as good as he is...so to hear his encouragement mean the world to me..

So here is to another day of getting healthy...

Insanity Day 2

OK so I am going to use this blog to track my exercise and weight loss journey.  I decided that being the same weight I was at the heaviest in all my pregnancies is not a good thing...so here I will bear it all. Now I know most people don't read my blog so I guess I am not ashamed to say how much I weigh, how I feel each day, and what my goals are etc, it is more for me to see my progress...so here it goes...I am 34 years old today, I am 62 inches(5'2), and I weigh....169, I have hardly any energy, I feel stressed, and I just want to sleep all day long while my kids snuggle me.

Now I have never been this heavy or close to it my entire life other than when I was pregnant with the six kids I have.  But the past few months I have gone through severe depression, OK since I had Mary and the pounds keep coming on no matter what I do.  So I decided things needed to change...I made sure my thyroid levels were right (because remember I don't have thyroid due to cancer a few years back) and decided to do slimfast and Wii active...after two weeks I had actually gained five pounds, so I decided that was not the plan for me (granted Valentines candy and cookies were everywhere to be seen, or not be seen because I was eating them like crazy...ok cookies and doughnuts are my weaknesses).

So I made a goal with myself and Steve and on Tuesday (yesterday) I started Insanity Workouts.  Now the fit test yesterday about killed me, I don't think I have been that sore since High School basketball workouts(which was twenty years ago).  And then just now I did the first real workout...now a few things I found out..,.
  1.  I cannot jump anymore...six kids killed that a long time ago, and what it didn't kill the emergency hysterectomy incision did.  So I have to modify the jumping ones so that I don't pee my pants the whole workout.
  2. My calf muscles have not been worked like this in a long time so I got lots of muscle cramps to where they were almost numb.
  3. I am really really really out of shape
  4. I cannot do a real push up anymore...really sad...I can barely go down
  5. My kids find it funny to watch the video and then see mom try and look like the TV...easy entertainment for 40 minutes....
But beside all of this I feel good, I like the pain of being sore, it means I am working hard, and I hope in 58 days I will see a difference not only physically but mentally, and hopefully I will be able to overcome this depression and obesity that I have allowed myself to slip into.

So my goal is to challenge my husband and anyone else who wants to read this to go out and get moving, eat right, and get healthy not only for yourself but for your friends and family so they will have you around a lot longer.  Good luck, and hopefully tomm. I will be able to do the whole workout without resting for part of it...:)

New Found Happiness

So I am trying to get better on staying up with my blog, since my original purpose was to use it as a journal.

Yesterday, actually the few last weeks....months, year I have been feeling down.  I have suffered big time from depression since Mary was born and hate having to be on medication for it and feeling abnormal.  But yesterday I asked Steve to give me a blessing.  I was praying that it would give me the comfort and peace I needed to hear to know I wasn't crazy...and of course it did.  I was told I was loved by many, that I had a lot on my plate right now, and that a lot was expected from me but if I continued to help my spiritual, physical and mental grow that I would be blessed.  I was also told to realize it is ok to take time out to find a hobby and that I would be supported by my husband and family to do it.  I think that is what I needed to hear.  Sometimes, especially lately I feel as though I give and give for everyone that I am too tired for myself.  So today I am setting goals...I want to exercise almost everyday(even if that means just going for a walk around the neighborhood), I want to find out a hobby that I love to do and make sure I have time to do it(right now sewing comes to mind), I want to have more time to study my scriptures, I want to spend more time playing with the kids and building their confidence, I want to get on a cleaning schedule so my home is cleaner, and most of all I want to spend less time in front of the Computer and TV.  Hopefully I can follow through with these goals so that I will find that normalness and happiness that I have missed the past year and a half.  I know I am truly blessed, but I miss my self being truly happy, not fake happy...Here's to a new start!

I am Mormon and I love it!!!

OK, so I loved conference and the RS Broadcast the past two weekends.  I feel like I am on a spiritual high and that I have so much to work on...especially making sure my home has the spirit continually in it (less fighting, yelling, keeping it clean, etc).  But the thing I think that surprised me the most was the change in missionary ages...Boys can go at age 18 and girls at age 19.  That means my baby Byron can be on a mission in 6 1/2 years and I could be a grandma in less than 10...Now that shocked me, am I really that old?  But I guess I am.  My kids are really growing up to fast, my baby is almost 17 months, my oldest almost 12, and I am starting to feel like time has gone by too quickly.  I realized I will never have a newborn in my home again, and I know I have lots of kids and I know that I am done, but it still hurts to know that my baby is getting so big...all 6 of them.  Even though I am excited for them to go earlier on their missions and start their lives and careers sooner, part of me is in panic mode trying to figure out how to spend more time with each one of them so that I feel like I did all that I could to make them feel special, to help develop their testimony, and to make each one of them a stronger person who know who they are, what they stand for, and where they came from.  I know that I am a loved daughter of my Heavenly Father who loves me very much and has blessed me with so much.  And even if we have our trials, we barely can pay our bills, and we may not have the cleanest house in the world...I know we are blessed with so many things...Steve actually having a job that does pay our bills, a home to live in, and lots of love and most of all the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our lives.  I am truly grateful to be a member of this church and to know that Families are Forever and that God has a plan for each one of us and he will not give us more than we can  handle.  I know that I am loved by many and that although my life may not be perfect in the worlds eyes, it is perfect in mine. I am grateful for the trials we have and the blessings we have and a loving Savior who gave everything for me.  I am grateful for a living prophet and other leaders who inspire me and teach me so many things.  I am grateful for a best friend who is always there for me and loves me despite of my faults and is the greatest example of Christlike love.  I am grateful for six wonderful kids who bless me and teach me everyday.  I love my life....In the name of Jesus Christ Amen...

Tyson's drama

OK So Tyson used to be our calm child...but for some reason when he turned four that all changed...and now that he is 5 it really is crazy!!  He has reverted backwards potty training(none of our kids ever did this, not even his younger sister Sarah), he throws more fits then his baby sisters and he has started arguing with us...Now you might think what a bratty kid...but no here are the things that are awesome about Tyson...He can already read books and the scriptures(faster than any of our other children), he is a great dancer, he can make me laugh any time, he loves playing sports and is very dedicated on practicing them to make sure he is as good as his brothers.  He loves to snuggle give huge hugs and hold my hand all the time.  He is a really good cleaner and loves to mop our floors. He is great with his baby sisters. And he has an amazing testimony of the Savior and the Gospel.  So even though I get frustrated he is a great kid.

This leads me to my main reason for writing this post...Friday was one of those days for him.  He had wet the bed during the night and went and took a shower.  After showering he was mad to find out that I had not washed his basketball shorts yet and had to wear blue jeans.  HE screamed and yelled and refused to go to school, so after the others walked away and left him screaming on our lawn...I put him in the car and drove him to the school(only 2 blocks away) parked across from the playground, and told him to get out and cross with the crossing guard.  He got out and said what about show and tell?  I said here is a BYU ticket from the game you just went to....He started screaming that he didn't want the ticket and wanted a basketball at the house.  So I told him to take a step back on the grass, he did still screaming, and I drove off around the corner and hid to where he could not see me.  I watched as for a minute or so he screamed and yelled and jumped around...then the bell rang.  He stopped crying walked to the crossing guard and walked to his class acting like nothing happened...The funny part comes with Byron's view of the whole thing.  He was walking to school and saw some crazy kid screaming his guts out...when he thought what a brat and what kind of parent just leaves their kid like that.  Then he saw our car hiding and realized it was Tyson and I was the crazy mom who left their kid like that.  And he said Only my mom would be crazy enough to do something like that!"  Gotta love my kids.
